Redford Conference Center

Sundance, Utah
Sundance Resort

PDF Download

LEI has provided civil engineering and surveying services to Sundance Resort over the past six years and was hired as the lead consultant for the design and construction of the Redford Conference Center. The new Conference Center will provide intimate meeting and event space with a matchless outdoor experience.

The design of the Conference Center landscape focused primarily on the "Sundance Experience" through preservation of existing trees and plant massings, the addition of native, water-wise plant materials already established throughout the resort, providing an intimate building entry and gathering spaces, and creating an outdoor break-out space suitable for conference gatherings and weddings. An additional intent of the landscape design was to enhance certain building features, frame views, of Mt. Timpanogos, reduce overall building mass, and buffer vehicular and pedestrian circulation routes.

Walker Residence

Park City, Utah
Studio 255 Architecture

The Walker residence is a split-unit home located in Park City, Utah.  The building lot created unique design challenges with its narrow width, steep terrain, and existing construction materials.  The home owner's desire was to create an outdoor backyard space that would provide an opportunity for small, year-round gathering and private relaxation.  In addition, the home owner wanted to connect the front yard to the back yard with a stair case along one side of the home.

RiverStone Design Group (a former LEI company) was hired by the architect to perform landscape design services for the outdoor renovation.  The steep topography and size constraints of the site required creative upgrades to and removal of, existing retaining wall structures to create additional patio space.  Outdoor amenities include a hot tub, fire place, water feature, and heated concrete.  The selection of plant materials was based upon creating a native, water-wise landscape that would provide privacy screening.

Macey Residence

Deer Crest, Utah
Summa Ars Architects

The Macey residence is a custom home located near the top of the Deer Crest residential development at Deer Valley.  The building lot provides unobstructed views of eastern Summit County and Jordanelle Reservoir, along with full ski in/ski out access to one of Deer Valley's ski trails.

RiverStone Design Group (a former LEI company) was hired by the architect to perform site grading and landscape design services.  The downhill topography of the site required significant retaining wall design to accommodate the home as well as site drainage requirements.  The selection of plant materials was based upon the homeowner's specific likes and dislikes, and to create a native, water-wise landscape that would provide buffering of the road and maintain views.  Coordination between the client, architect, civil and geotechnical engineers, and the Design Review Committee was critical in obtaining building permits and approvals for the landscape and grading plan.

The Meadows at Star Valley

Lincoln County, Wyoming
Castle Arch Real Estate

PDF Download

The Meadows at Star Valley is a residential development combining a mix of residential unit types from attached townhomes to short frontage single family lots to larger single family lots.  At full build-out, the project will provide 198 residential units.  The first phase of the project kicked off in 2009 and includes eight four-unit townhome buildings and associated infrastructure.

The initial landscape design focused on the first phase of the project and was designed to provide an attractive landscape for the townhome buildings, buffer the residential units from an existing roadway, and to enhance the development entry feature.  The plant selection was primarily based upon recommendations from a local nursery and includes species that are appropriate for the local climate and hardiness zone.  In addition, water-wise irrigation systems are proposed.

Greene Residence

Park City , Utah
Homeowner

The Greene residence is located in Park City, Utah near the base of Quarry Mountain.  Set at the southern end of high-end residential subdivision, the lot provides unobstructed views of the surrounding mountains and Canyons ski resort.

RiverStone Design Group (a former LEI company) was hired by the homeowner to analyze the site conditions and conceptually design a landscape that incorporates two creeks that run through the site into separate rear- and front-yard ponds, connected by a water feature that would flow under a breezeway connecting the master bedroom wing to the main part of the home.  In addition, the homeowners wanted to incorporate native plant materials that would preserve and enhance existing view corridors and provide visual buffering from neighboring properties.

Christian Residence

Park City , Utah
Homeowner

PDF Download

The Christian residence is located in the Pinebrook Development in Park City, Utah.  The existing conditions of the lot created unique design challenges with its existing stands of mature oaks and limited solar exposure, steep terrain, and an existing gas line easement.  The homeowner's goals included creating a maintenance free landscape by replacing all of the existing lawn areas with planter areas, preserving existing vegetation, creating landscape buffers along certain property lines, and maintaining existing view corridors.  In addition, the homeowner wanted a physical connection from the front yard to the backyard with a flagstone path and space for a small vegetable garden.

RiverStone Design Group (a former LEI company) was hired by the homeowner to analyze the existing site conditions and prepare a landscape redesign that would create a maintenance free landscape by eliminating existing lawn areas and providing native, drought tolerant plants and trees, while providing vegetation buffers and preserving views of the surrounding mountains.  In addition, all of the existing irrigation systems were converted to a low water use drip system.
